It's no secret that every bride wants her skin to look "Beyonce-flawless" on her big day. Of course, your glam squad will be able to work their magic day-of, but what about before your walk down the aisle? Here are 5 ways you can make sure your skin is glowing on your big day...
1. Sleep, sleep... (and more sleep)
With a kick-ass wedding comes a laundry list of to-do's that just might have you pulling a few all-nighters leading up to the big day. The occasional all-nighter is okay, but don't let it become a habit. Getting the right amount of ZZZ's can have a profound impact on your skins health. While we sleep, our body is regenerating and creating new cells of all our body tissues—skin, muscle, hair. Sleeping is the only time our brain can repair and reorganize. The next time you find yourself late night "pinning", put the phone down and let your body repair and prepare for the next day!
2. Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate
This sounds simple, but it's something we tend to overlook the most. Water is your best friend! Everyone knows drinking at least 8 glasses of water a day is important, but it's soooo much harder than it sounds. Right? Just remember: that can of soda or sugary latte will not rid your body of toxins like water can! If 8 glasses of water sounds impossible to you, try substituting a couple glasses with coconut water or iced green tea.
3. Keep calm and carry on
While stress isn't a direct cause for breakouts, it can cause your body to produce more oil and enhance any existing acne. Essential oils are an inexpensive addition to your pre-wedding skin and wellness routines (eucalyptus and lavender are our favs)! While wedding planning can leave you feeling overwhelmed at times... instead of reaching for that pint of ice cream, draw yourself a warm bath with a few drops of your favorite essential oil.
4. Develop an at-home skincare routine
Washing your face daily is a must, and is the most important contributing factor to achieving beautiful, healthy skin. If your ballin on a budget, don't worry! There are plenty of cleansers, serums, and creams that are affordable and work! But remember..... no matter the price of the product, if you're not sticking to your daily regimen, you won't see results.
5. Save the sweet tooth for the wedding
Trade in that morning muffin for a kale, avocado and blueberry smoothie. Not only do these superfoods do your body good, they can do wonders for your skin. What you eat is directly related to your hormones and inflammatory skin conditions like acne. Do your best to eat clean and exercise so you have plenty of energy to dance the night away with your new hubby!
...and if you fall off the wagon once or twice, don't beat your self up. Tomorrow is a new day!
While it is not guaranteed that these tips will ensure clear skin, we hope they can make your road to flawless wedding skin, a tad bit easier. Good luck. You got this!
