Get Ready! Our first ever Online Auction-Style Sample Sale on July 23rd & July 24th. Here’s how to take your measurements and choose the right bridal size, using the Pollardi Fashion Group sizing chart as your guide.

Let’s get one thing out of the way: bridal sizing is not the same as your everyday street size. You might wear a size 8 at your favorite clothing store, but your bridal size could very well be a 10 or 12—and that’s completely normal. That being said, let's dive in!

Step 1: Take Your Measurements

Before selecting a size, you'll need three key measurements: bust, waist, and hips. Here's how to do it accurately:

📏 Bust

  • Wear a non-padded bra for the most accurate results.

  • Wrap a measuring tape around the fullest part of your bust.

  • Make sure the tape is snug but not tight, and level all the way around your body.

📏 Waist

  • Find the narrowest part of your waist—usually just above your belly button.

  • Breathe naturally and don’t suck in!

  • Measure around this point, keeping the tape comfortably snug.

📏 Hips

  • Stand with your feet together.

  • Measure around the fullest part of your hips and butt (typically 7–9 inches below your waist).

  • Again, ensure the tape is level and not cutting into your skin.

Step 2: Compare Your Measurements to the Size Chart

Now that you’ve got your numbers, reference the bridal size chart (like the one from Pollardi). You’ll see sizes listed in both US and EU formats, along with the bust, waist, and hip measurements in inches.

💡 Tip: Bridal dresses don’t have much stretch, and alterations are common—so don’t expect a perfect fit off the rack.

Step 3: Choose the Size That Fits Your Largest Measurement

This part is key: when choosing your bridal size, always go with the size that matches your largest measurement.

Let’s say:

  • Your bust is 40 inches (closest to US size 14)

  • Your waist is 33 inches (also size 14)

  • Your hips are 44 inches (size 12)

Even though your hips are a size 12, you should choose a size 14 to accommodate your bust and waist. It’s much easier for a seamstress to take in a dress than let it out!

Auction Tips

Now that you've found your size, keep in mind that any size a few sizes LARGER than your size will also fit, but need some alterations. For example, if you're a bridal size 14, consider bidding on any size 16 or 18 dresses you also love!
